this months make up : july

inside augusts make up bag The mixture of the heat and the rain – it’s really played with my make up game. When it’s too hot to handle – I like to be pretty natural. Maybe a little brow gel and a thin layer of mascara to open my little eyes. I have a love/hate relationship with make up at the moment. I’m all for being more natural and sharing that outlook with you all. However, I am a sucker for make up and this girl sometimes needs to hide away to make myself feel better.

For my base I don’t use any primer. I apply my moisturiser just before applying my make up and I use that as a primer. I’m currently using the Simple light moisturiser which does a cracking job. For my foundation I use the IT Cosmetics CC Cream which I must tell you for the 246th time – it’s bloody amazing. It pushes out all of the other foundations I’ve tried in the past and thought they done a good job. This CC Cream is lightweight on the skin with high coverage. It is possible. You can build up the CC Cream to a more full coverage or apply a 5 pence piece, and your complexion looks instantly amazing. It works well with using a beauty blender or even your hands. Yes, when I am in a serious quick rush to get out the front door – I’ve used my hands and man it still looked good. I would normally go for the shade Fair in most foundations. However I went up a shade to Light and it matches perfectly.

For my cheeks I am using the Maybelline bronzing palette and the L’Oreal life’s a peach blush. They’re both warming to my skin and gives that gorgeous summer glow. There’s four shades within the bronzing palette and they blend beautifully. They look super natural on the skin and leaves no streaky looking bronzer. I also love using this bronzing palette for my eyes too, it looks natural and it’s super pretty.  For the blush – I love this L’Oreal peach blush. It’s super summery and it also gives a gorgeous shimmer to your cheeks. You could either leave the highlighter and go more natural with this, or you could add more on top for evening wear. (Or you could use both because you’re all for glowing – even from out of space.) For the highlight I am using the NARS highlight in the shade Capri. This is a gorgeous champagne which is super light on the skin and nothing to OTT. I’ve never been a highlighter fan but this one just gives that gorgeous shimmer/glow to my summer make up look.

For my eyes – I like to keep it natural. No heavy eyeliner because you know this girl sweats in more places then I knew was possible, even around the eyes. So I’ve been testing out the L’Oreal false lash telescopic mascara. I’ve had many friends tell me how much they love it. I’m shocked and disappointed in myself that I didn’t find this first as you know I’m the beauty blogger. This gives my lashes a gorgeous natural lash look with a little statement. It’s a thinner wand than I’d normally go for, as I’m all for the chunky. It adds volume, length and curve to my lashes without them looking like spider legs. Win, win, win.

For my lips I’ve been loving two out of my collection. The NARS lipstick in the shade Blood Flower and Givenchy Lip Balm. Blood Flower is a gorgeous bold red which I like to use as my statement to my make up look. This looks gorgeous with a bronzed make up look. It’s long lasting on the lips and keeps your lips moist without drying out. For the Lip Balm I like to use this when I’ve gone for just a simple make up look. A little mascara and bronzer with this, just gives a natural colour to your lips along with keeping them nourished.

That’s my summer make up look, and I’m forever using just these over and over again. This heat is too much for us English and even with the CC Cream it’s sometimes too much.
