5 High Street Discoveries

If I had to decide between High street or High end products – I think it’ll have to be High Street. High street beauty is becoming more and more popular within the beauty industry, because a lot more High street brands are battling to be better than the High end.

A few weeks ago I sat down on a morning I had off work sick, and watched a programme called : The Truth About Looking Good.

It was basically a programme about all different beauty brands, and whether their purpose of a product ~ actually worked.

They had an experiment where two sisters and their mother went into the pop up store to try out two products (the same product), from two different brands. One high end and one high street. They had a foundation, an eye shadow and also a lipgloss. The high street product won twice with the foundation and lipgloss, but the high end product won for the eye shadow. There was also three moisturisers that they got a group of people to test out, a high end brand, a middle range brand and a low priced brand. It worked out that the most expensive moisturiser didn’t actually do anything to the skin. It didn’t make a difference, and it also didn’t include any anti-aging factors which it stated on the product. However, the two lower ranged products did make a difference to the skin and did what it said! So basically my point is – high street is improving and that’s why it’s not so cheap anymore.

Here’s five of my favourite discoveries I’ve made through out 2017, that I’m going to continue using in 2018..

NYX Warm Ultimate Shadows Palette | This palette is in the shades of Warm Neutrals, and I must say we all need this in our collection.  There’s a total of 16 different shades and they’re all around the orange/burnt/brown tones. The perfect go-to palette for everyday. These type of shades are a must have within your eye shadow palette collection – believe me. They’re highly pigmented and also blend out really nicely. You have a good mixture of mattes to shimmers, but they’re more subtle on the shimmers. I could recommend this to you all as it’s the everyday palette and would be so handy for travelling too.

Pixi Glow Tonic | The main reason I purchased this was because the rave about it. So this is an exfoliating toner which helps firm and tighten normal to dry skin. It also brightens the skin which leaves it looking healthy and glowing. I have super sensitive skin and this doesn’t effect it in anyway. However, I’ve also recently purchased the Glossier Solution which is similar and I have to say Glossier have stolen my heart. However, for a cheaper alternative this Pixi Glow Tonic would be perfect as it’s a whole lot easier to get your hands on! It’s also not so harsh on the skin.

Lush Sugar Plum Lip Scrub | This scrub is literally my saviour when it comes to getting ready and applying the make up. Basically it’s an exfoliator for your lips before applying any lipstick/liquid. I cannot stand it when you apply lipstick and you get all them white bits from your lips. I don’t know where it comes from or why it’s there but it happens to me too. This removes it all. It leaves your lips feeling soft and ready for any application, however before applying lipstick I do like to add moisture using my lip balm. This comes in a different range of flavours, and even better you can lick off any excess and it tastes pretty good! However, I do instruct you not to just dip your finger in and eat it. Lol.

Maybelline Tattoo Brow | This has been something that’s had a mixture of opinions through the blogging community. However, I did a blog post on this as a review and I did say – if you’re a lazy kind of girl like mwah, then this would suit you quite well. Every Friday I like to apply this to my brows, set and then peeeeel off so if my plans are a ‘no make up look’ this saves me a hell load of time. It lasts over the weekend period, and suits me well. I’ve linked my review here so you can have a more in-depth read.

NYX Pore Filler | Another NYX product. This is my total savour to my oily t-zone. I’m a wearer of glasses and before I came across this my foundation on my nose would be non-existent within a couple of hours. However, this pore filler keeps everything in place. Unless I’m having hot sweats walking around Primark, it may rub off a little but other than it’s pretty safe going. I have also reviewed this alone in a blog post ~ if you’d like to read it.. here’s your chance.

That’s a wrap.

It’s so handy! When it comes to the weekends I’m more lazy when it comes with make up. Well mainly Sundays and it’s so much easier to just add a little brow gel instead of the whole pomade and everything xx

I love using the NYX pore filler around my nose when it’s particularly bad because it seriously manages to completely fill them in and leave your skin looking flawless! I really need to repurchase my pixi glow tonic, I’m having a mare with my skin at the moment and need to re-introduce it! xx

If you want an even more affordable option to the Pixi glow, the Superdrug glycolic toner from their naturally radiant line is £5.99 and often on buy one get one free, it’s really good 🙂 Loved this post xxx
