When it comes to working with brands and PRs, you really need to think first whether it relates with your blog and something you’d love and enjoy. If you’ll like it, then that means your readers will love it too – because they enjoy reading and seeing what you love doing. So what do I think about contacting a brand first? I think why the heck not.
When contacting a brand, it’s no difference to them contacting you. You always have to do a little dance to celebrate the response. You should receive a reply either way, because they will appreciate the fact you’d want to work with them in the first place. A lot of my work with other brands have been from me contacting them. I think really.. WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOOSE. Nothing. They will not make you look like a total idiot, they’ll just not reply worse comes to worse. However, when it comes to contacting companies you need to do five certain things.
This is quite an obvious one. Tell them about you, and your blog and what you write about. Even let them know you’re most popular read on the blog, which could relate to themselves. So say if you’ve done a review on another of their products, let them know and tell them how popular it was. Let them know what your audience likes most, if you’re based around Beauty – tell them your reviews or hauls are the most popular. Tell them how long you’ve been blogging for as well!
LET THEM KNOW WHAT YOU’RE LOVING MOST FROM THEIR COLLECTION
Is there a product that stands out to you most? Tell them! Even if you have an item of clothing or a product from them, tell them that it’s been your holy grail or your favourite go to at the moment. You want to have a browse through their collections. You don’t want to be acting like you ain’t got a bloody darn clue.
GIVE THEM YOUR STATICS FROM YOUR BLOG, INSTAGRAM – EVERYTHING
This is something they’re going to want to know. They want to know what’s your most popular platform. They will want to know, because you could also advertise their products/items on your Instagram Stories or Snapchat. Be honest though, because they’ll only find out themselves. Some brands do not like dishonesty.
LEAVE THEM THE LINKS FOR YOUR BLOG AND SOCIAL MEDIA
Exactly from the previous point. Leave your links, so it makes it easier for them to find you. Leave your blog, Instagram, twitter, snapchat. Whatever social media you are using.
BE A LITTLE FUN WITHIN THE EMAIL
Don’t be ‘oh miss/mr serious’. Throw a little explanation mark here and there, but just not everywhere. You don’t want to sound loopy. Also remember to tell them that you’re looking forward to hearing from them’!’.
Just remember, you’re wanting to show yourself off to them. You want yourself to seem different to other bloggers that have also done the whole ‘contacting them first’ type of thing.
